Badger Lake 4/25/09

Wow! Temps on Friday Mid 80s and sunshine….Saturday for our first tournament mid 50s cold and wet. I hope things shape up soon. At lease it didn’t prevent us from bringing some nice fish to the scale. With a total of 20 anglers we were able to catch 17 keepers for a tournament total of 49.59lb weighed in. Rob Welch was the big winner of the day with 10.83lb including the tournament big bass at 6.16. Congratulations Rob. Second and third places both went to new club members, Jim Meyerdirk (8.19lb) and Joe Wolf (8.04) followed up by Steve Allsup (5.67) for fourth place.

West Lake 5/9/09

Better weather for this go around other than being a bit windy. The cold front that moved through did not help the fish bite. Smaller fish and fewer caught than our last tournament. Again we had 20 anglers competing, this time only 14 fish brought to the scale with a total weight of 33.82lbs. First place and big bass went to Ben Chiodo with a 3 fish limit of 10.57ibs and a big fish of 4.43lb. Second place went to Dan Luke with the only other limit caught of 6.4lb. Rob Welch in the money again at third place with 4.43lb and Jake Clayton with the help of his most excellent guide was able to take fourth place weighing a 2.44lb pole breaker.

Lake Anita 6/6/09

I was hoping for a better day than this one started out as, 5 am at the ramp and there’s lightning all around. We held off the launch until 6:30 hoping it would let up a little. No luck with that. Well we finally got on the water and the weather started clearing up after a while but the fish never really started cooperating. We had 21 anglers weigh in 26 fish. Coming in first place was Beav McDaniel with a limit weighing 9.29lbs., right on his heels in second place was Rob Welch with a 9.18lb bag. Third place went to Chuck Auten who weighed in 8.60lbs. and a fourth place finish for Jim Meyerdirk with 7.74lbs. In an unusual turn the big bass pot did not go to any of the anglers in the money and was paid out to Jake Clayton who brought a 4.33 lb fish to the scale. Ya gotta like it when the money gets spread around like that. The only thing better would be to spread some my way.

Brushy Creek 7/18/09

Sounds like it was a tough fishing day on ol’ Brushy. Only two limits brought to the scales. 17 anglers and only 16 keepers weighed. Guess I don’t feel so bad about missing it now. Capturing 1st place for the day was Steve Allsup with 7.73lbs. 2nd place went to Dan Luke who had 7.68lbs. In third place Nathan Waltz with a total of 5.72lbs including the days big fish of 3.73lb. And rounding out the winners, Rob Welch. OOPS! I mean Denny Clayton weighing in 3.83.

Just for comparison I looked up our tourney last year on Brushy. Last year there were 15 anglers catching 31 fish with a total weight of 72.38lbs. This year, 17 anglers catching 16 fish with a total weight of 37.61. Quite a difference there.

3-Mile Lake 8/22/09

It was a tough day for 3-Mile fishing with only 5 limits coming to the scales out of 18 anglers. The days big winner taking first place and big bass was Tom Wheatly with a total of 10.16lb including a 5.0lb big fish. Second went to Steve Allsup at 8.93lb. Dan Luke had a third place finish total weight of 7.21. Finishing out in the money was Denny Clayton with 7.05lb.

Red Rock 9/12/09

The rumble at Red Rock has finally come and gone. We had excellent weather for the event with good temps no rain and very little wind. After a long day of fishing for the ten anglers present, there was a total of 7 fish weighed in. Steve Allsup pulled off a first place finish with 2 fish at 6.38lb. Following Steve for second place and a first time in the money was Chester Zukowski  with 2 fish at 5.5lbs. This also brought Chester up to the top of the points for non-boaters. Big bass for this event went to Beav McDaniel with a very nice 4.69lb largemouth.

This tournament really made a change in the points standings for the year and with only one more points tournament in the season the battles to watch are for second place in overall points and we have a close one also for first place non-boater.
